Genesis 1:28 is sometimes called, The Dominion Covenant.
That isn’t my favorite term for it, but that’s neither here nor there.
In Genesis 1:28, God prescribed the solution to stop any potential population bomb by saying:
“God blessed them [Adam and Eve]; and God said to them, ‘Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.'”
God Loves Population Growth! You Should Too
God thinks so much of this advice that He repeated the command twice to Noah and his sons (Gen. 9:1, 7). God promises in the law that He will cause population growth among His obedient people and they are to regard this as the blessing that it is. (Lev. 26:9, Deut. 28:4, 11, Psalm 127:3-5, 128:3-4).
Did you catch that? He will cause population growth among His people, those who are obedient to Him.
Oops, Actually, He Doesn’t Like it in One Kind of Person
As much as God seems to want His people to grow in numbers, the situation is quite different for unbelievers. For those who hate Him.
Population growth is a disadvantage for the ungodly. Population means people. A higher disobedient population means greater judgement (Deuteronomy 28:18-19, Isaiah 49:19-20, Ezekiel 5:7-8).
But the answer to overpopulation of the ungodly is not population control but regeneration.
Population control is always spiritual and ethical… never biological.
