Christians must be smarter than God. Wait a minute! What did I just say? How in the world could I say this? Well it must be true because Christians continue to pervert Scripture. They think their ideas and methods are better than God’s. The next words are solely directed at Christians.
“Thou Shalt not Judge”
I can not say enough about judging. Christians continue, every day, rebuking others for judging. They also try to use Scripture to back their point. How ironic is that?
Telling a person that it is wrong to judge is a form of judging. There is no way you can go through life without being judgmental in some way. Christopher Fisher has a great blog about this. If you really believe we Christians are not allowed to judge then how do you account for what Paul or Jesus wrote? It is very clear on if, who, when, and how to judge. Read and think about it.
We Have to be Nice to Everyone
Being nice and loving are totally different. Matt Walsh has one of the best explanations of this that I have read. God is loving but he is not always nice. Jesus was loving but he was not always nice. Paul was loving but he was not always nice. Loving can be not nice. If you follow Scripture you will be considered mean. There are things we, as Christians, are supposed to do that are loving but the world sees as mean but we still have to do them. Is being nice as important as being loving?
Homosexuals Can’t Help It
Christians, everywhere, are preaching tolerance of homosexuality. They say that homosexuals can not help how they are and that they are born that way. Christians say God will never condemn a homosexual because God is good and could never punish someone who can’t help who they are. Again Scripture is very clear on homosexuality being wrong and the punishments associated.
Abortion is Okay Sometimes
What is abortion? It is murder. There are no two ways about that. Scripture is very clear on murder and there are no exceptions to murder. There is no “in the case of rape or incest” exceptions. Why do Christians try to make exceptions okay?
Time outs?
God set up punishment for all forms of wrongdoing. There is nothing God has not lined out in Scripture yet Christians continue to come up with “better” forms of punishment. There are many Christians that say “time out” is better than any physical discipline (spanking). Christians defend the idea of prisons over the death penalty or restitution yet where in Scripture does God use that as a form of punishment for everything?
God’s Nature
The conclusion is that Christians must think they are smarter than God. They change the nature of God to suit their needs or desires. However God’s nature has never changed. He has always been just and always will be just no matter how “mean” people think He is. He is a loving God no matter what Christians try to change about His nature. Part of that nature is “tough love.” We can not change God to what we want Him to be but we have to change to what He wants us to be.
Are you smarter than God?
